The community of Los Angeles, California is remembering Esmeralda Ramirez, a beloved Los Angeles Police Department officer whose service, dedication, and sacrifice continue to be honored years after her passing.
Officer Ramirez served with the Los Angeles Police Department for 11 years and was assigned to the Pacific Division. Her career was marked by a commitment to public service and protecting the communities she served. On August 5, 2015, while on duty and driving an unmarked LAPD vehicle, Officer Ramirez was seriously injured in a traffic collision after another vehicle entered her lane. She suffered severe neck and back injuries and spent the following years undergoing extensive treatment. In 2019, surgery was recommended as part of her ongoing medical care. Tragically, complications following that surgery led to her passing on June 9, 2019.
Officer Ramirez was 49 years old at the time of her death and is survived by her three adult children. Her sacrifice and service have not been forgotten, and she continues to be honored by fellow officers, law enforcement organizations, and the Los Angeles community.
